Former TV Host Rui Chenggang Faces Spying Accusations, Broke Down In Tears

Posted: 09/19/2014 1:21 pm

rui chenggang

Hong Kong’s Apple Daily has published a sensational story today on Rui Chenggang, the disgraced former presenter at CCTV, claiming he divulged state secrets to foreign spy agencies and tried to smear the upper echelon of the Communist Party, among other scandalous claims. Rui was taken away by police in July this year.

Rui was a business anchor on CCTV famous for forcing Starbucks to exit the Forbidden City in 2006. According to the report, which cites a source from the disciplinary committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Rui reportedly cried at his interrogation earlier this year after being arrested, claiming he was a victim under the control of others.

Rui claims former President Hu Jintao’s former personal secretary, Ling Jihua, schemed to have his wife, Gu Liping, rape him to force Rui to establish a special relationship with her. Gu is 20 years older than Rui, and was said to have had a previous relationship with Rui in the mold of an ”older sister-younger brother”. Through his special relationship with Gu, Rui became a member of Ling’s inner clique. This is how Rui attained classified information on the government and economy.

Some suspect Ling himself is the focus of a graft investigation.

Rui admitted his criticisms of the west and patriotic diatribes were mean to be his “umbrella of protection” so he could stay in the good graces of the public and government. However, Rui is said to have shared Chinese secrets with a western agency that Chinese authorities accuse of conducting espionage.

Boxun, an overseas website that often publishes questionable information, said Rui had provided material to western reporters located in China that attempted to defame Xi Jinping and Wen Jiabao two years ago.

Rui has been very high profile, both in China and abroad. We reported earlier how Rui drew attention for his behavior in South Korea:

At a 2009 press conference with US President Barack Obama, Rui volunteered himself when the US President was instead seeking a question from the Korean press. As Rui explained at the time, “Unfortunately, I hate to disappoint you, President Obama, I’m actually Chinese. But I think I get to represent the entireAsia, part of the family on this side of the world.” and for arrogantly taking the floor to ask US President Barack Obama.

At their peak, Rui’s shows were watched by 300 million people each night.

Chinese Police Post Extraordinary List on How Not to Get Raped

Posted: 09/5/2014 9:18 am

wuhan iniversity policeAn increasing number of rapes, murders, and disappearances of female university students have been making headlines recently in China, stoking fears among students nationwide. Many people have asked how they can ensure their safety, so the Wuhan police have come up with a handy list.

The local Public Security Bureau for Wuhan University posted an extraordinary list of ways to avoid getting raped, which was then republished by Sina Guangdong. So, want to avoid having your dignity taken away? Here are nine suggestions from a Chinese police authority:

anti rape tips wuhan university policeDon’t take illegal cabs. (If you do,) get into the habit of memorizing the license plate. Sit in the back seat, and pretend to make a call.

Woman on cellphone in the back: Husband, come out and pick me up! The license plate of the car is xxx

anti rape tips wuhan university policeCarry a small spray bottle that contains Fengyoujing (a medicated balm lotion), and spray it into the eyes of an attacker.

anti rape tips wuhan university policeThrow your wallet somewhere far away instead of passing it over to the attacker.

Person throwing: Fly away!

anti rape tips wuhan university policeIf you want to take a picture of the bad man, you can pretend to be talking on the phone and surreptitiously record him by pointing the back of the phone towards him.

Be very careful using this one! If you are discovered doing this, you will die a grisly death.

anti rape tips wuhan university policeSometimes, teeth can be more effective than your own hands

Cannibal: If you’re not careful, you’ll have eaten the attacker.

anti rape tips wuhan university policeCut your fingernails into this shape. A blunt cut is fine; don’t make them too long or else they may break unexpectedly.

anti rape tips wuhan university policeUpon being raped*, you should defecate or urinate if you can, or stick your fingers down your throat to vomit.

An ordinary person will wilt at this sight.

anti rape tips wuhan university policeCarry a pen on your person (with the exception of a lead pencil). This is more convenient than a knife because you are able to pass through a security checkpoint.

anti rape tips wuhan university policeBe ugly; this is the safest way of all!

Sensational Rape Case in China Has Women Fearful Nationwide

Posted: 08/28/2014 6:20 pm

jinan train station black cab rapistA sensational case in which a university student was kidnapped and repeatedly raped for four days by the driver of an unlicensed pedicab in Jinan has prompted media to warn Chinese women to be careful. The case has also galvanized the country, making headlines nationwide.

The victim, a 22 year-old university student named Jin, arrived at the Jinan Railway Station on August 21 at around 7pm. She needed to take another train at Xike Station, and had to find a way to get there quickly. A 52 year-old man approached her and offered to give her a ride in his three-wheeled pedicab.

The driver, a 52 year-old man surnamed Dai, did not know how to get to Xike Station and ended up driving around in circles. Jin missed her train as a result, and asked to be taken back to the original train station. That’s when things escalated. Dai threatened to strangle Jin to death, and raped her in the three-wheeled cab. Dai then took Jin back to his residence where he beat her severely.

Three days later, on August 25, the Public Security Bureau of Central Jinan received a report from a Beijing resident named Sun who said his friend had been kidnapped. Jin had used Dai’s phone to send a text message to Sun saying she was being held in a place called “Longzhuang”. A police investigation later found both the suspect and the victim together on the second floor of a taxi company in Shuanglongzhuang.

Deputy captain of the Qixian police sub-station Liu Xiaoyi described the crime:

For approximately four days, Jin was bound, gagged, beaten, terrified, and raped. As well, sex drugs and sex toys were used to sexually violate Miss Jin.

Officer Wang Lushan was one of the first officers to arrive on the scene:

When we found her, she had already lost the ability to request help from us. Her eyes had a lifeless look to them, and she was not responsive. The woman’s right eye had already swollen black … She had suffered broken bones and scars from being beaten. It was a heart-breaking sight.

Jin was taken to hospital, and Dai was taken into police custody.

In light of this incident, police are warning women to stay vigilant and stay away from unlicensed “black cabs” or pedicabs. The advice is similar to instructions not to “trust anyone” previously given to female university students by a retired police officer. In the wake of the incident, infographics and tips have been published on Weibo to urge women to be more responsible in “staying vigilant” (below).

rape warning infographic

It has since been revealed that the suspect in this case, Dai, is a four-time repeat offender who has previously committed crimes of rape and confinement and personally admits to being a sexual deviant for whom “all hope is lost”.

Dai is originally from Fushun, Liaoning Province, and arrived in Jinan in 2003. He has never been married, but has lived with three different women. Dai was first arrested as a juvenile for stealing, and then was convicted of rape in 1983 and sentenced to ten years in prison. Dai was sent to jail for kidnapping a woman in 2010, and for indecent assault in 2012. In 2013, Dai was set free.

In an interview with a reporter, Dai explains he is not sorry for the victim because he himself is a victim. Furthermore, Dai says he was framed for the 1983 rape conviction. Asked if this was an injustice, Dai said:

Yes. Things were very strict in 1983. Back then, I had a non-sexual relationship with (the victim). Because she didn’t go home for two, three days, her family beat and cursed her, and said she was without shame. In order to save herself so that she could regain her face, she said that I forced her (to have sex). For this reason, I was convicted of rape and sentenced to ten years in prison, and exiled to the north-west. Think of it, ten years: from the time I was 20 until I was 30, I had lost all my friends, my family, everything and anything I had was lost. Even after I was released and had my own child, I still didn’t understand the meaning of responsibility, feeling, love… these are things that I don’t know. I’m never going to get these things, so that’s why I have abandoned any hope for me.

Police say Dai is at risk of offending again.

Guangdong Official Found Not Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Tour Guide in Australia

Posted: 08/20/2014 8:44 am

Song Jingsong, deputy head of Guangdong Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute, was accused of raping a tour guide in Australia.

A Guangdong official accused of sexually assaulting a university student tour guide was found not guilty by a local court in Australia after the second hearing of the case, reported Nandu on August 19. Song had been accused of two counts of digital rape and two of indecent assault, according to an Australian newspaper, The Age.

Song Jingsong, deputy head of Guangdong Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute (an organization under the provincial government’s housing and urban-rural development department) travelled to Australia about one year ago. The tour guide, a 33-year old student, was assigned to Song’s government delegation. The two were observed to be  drunk and flirting after dinner, according to CCTV footage submitted from the hotel and Crown Casino.

A local Melbourne Magistrate Court heard the case early last year and granted Song bail last August. In his decision, the Judge found the prosecution’s evidence insufficient to support the conviction of four charges. The Judge also found that the jury could not determine if Song was aware the woman was not consenting to sexual activity, or may not have been consenting.

The prosecution, however, believed the case needed a further hearing and restricted Song from leaving the country, Nandu said. This time, the jury found Song not guilty on charges of rape and indecent assault on Monday, after just four days of the hearing, Nandu said.

The Guangdong government had stated that Song was on a private visit, and had not been sent by the Institute, reported Global Times. The story sparked anger among Internet users last year when news of Song’s arrest surfaced on Sina Weibo, after Chinese newspapers failed to report the story.

One user commented, “Now we have someone spreading the communist ‘seeds’ all over the world,” SCMP reported last year.

Guangdong Mistress Wannabe Gets Swindled By Sugar Daddy Recruiter

Posted: 06/3/2014 12:05 pm

mistress for hireMistresses in China are renowned for living off the riches of their (often married) boyfriends, but it doesn’t always work out as planned.

That was the case for a 17 year-old Guangzhou girl named Lili (a pseudonym). She answered an online ad in August 2012 to meet Li Jun, a 27 year-old Hunan man, who promised he could introduce her to men interested in taking her as a mistress in exchange for money.

However, before Li was able to introduce her to any potential “sugar daddies”, he first asked Lili to pay an RMB 5,000 “honesty fee” upfront.

Trusting Li, Lili dutifully transferred the money. Li then threatened to expose Lili for being involved in this conspiracy. With Li Jun holding it over her, he raped Lili and used that to further blackmail her.

When the victim’s distraught family found out about the crime, they reported Li to the police, who arrested him and charged him with fraud and rape. He was later convincted and has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison.

The moral of the story? Even mistresses can be swindled… sometimes.

Bizarre case of ‘dog rape’ ends up in Guangzhou court

Posted: 07/11/2013 10:00 am

A bizarre legal battle has ensued between two dog owners in Guangzhou after a mongrel mated with a purebred female dog in their owners’ apartment complex when both were unfettered.

Courtesy of Guangzhou Daily

After finding out what had happened, the owner of the pure-bred dog called the police and pledged to sue the owner of the mongrel, Mr Lin, for 100,00 yuan because the dog had been purebred for scientific purposes and had to maintain its virginity. The purebred dog was worth millions before it lost its virginity, the owner claimed.

Police, however, immediately dismissed the case as claims of “rape” between animals would be impossible to prove. But the owner did not leave it at that. After a series of heated disputes in their apartment complex, Jindao Gardens in Fangcun, that were so heated they caught the attention of neighbours, the owner of the purebred dog kidnapped the mongrel and is refusing to return it.

The wife of the owner of the mongrel has pledged to take it no further if her dog is returned and her neighbour stops threatening to sue.

Tang Xiyou of Guangzhou-based law firm PCG has said there is no case against Mr. Lin as it is impossible to know whether it was consenting and who seduced who in the case of animals.

A veteran policeman also told the paper that only in the case of dog bites would the law get involved.

Married man uses nude photo to blackmail 14 year-old Guangdong girl into bed

Posted: 04/30/2013 7:00 am

A 14 year-old girl who sent a topless picture of herself to a stranger on QQ was blackmailed into having sex with the man she sent it to twice. After he attempted to blackmail her a third time, she contacted the police and he is now on trial, Southern Metropolis Daily reports.

A Po (alias) is a 26 year-old driver who has a wife and son. He met the 14 year-old Xiao Fang on QQ in early November last year. Both live in Zengcheng. Without meeting in person, A Po gained Xiao Fang’s trust.

After a while, A Po asked to see Xiao Fang’s nude body and she sent a topless photo of herself.

They met at Xiao Fang’s house on December 20 (presumably her parents were away. The paper doesn’t say) and hugged in the living room. A Po then dragged a reluctant Xiao Fang into the bedroom. When Xiao Fang resisted, he reminded her that he had her nude photo and would put it on Sina Weibo.

After they had sex, A Po took out his phone and deleted the photo in front of her. On January 3, he contacted her again and told her he still had the photo on his computer and would put it on Sina Weibo if she didn’t have sex with him again. She reluctantly obliged.

He contacted her again in mid-January and told Xiao Fang that if she didn’t have sex with him again, he would print the photo and stick it on the front entrance of her school. Scared, she consulted a QQ group to ask for help and one of the adults in the group called the police. The adult then accompanied her to the police station to tell her story.

A Po is now facing trial for blackmail but will not be tried for pedophilia as the age of consent in China is just 14.

[Updated] Boy in Shenzhen meets girl over the internet, keeps her as sex slave for a week

Posted: 03/12/2013 7:00 am

A man who had returned to Shenzhen after studying in Japan is in some serious hot water after keeping a girl as his sex slave for a week.

The man met the girl over the internet and locked her in a dog cage in his home in Longgang District until she escaped on February 28, TVS reports.

Mr. Chen’s apartment.

Miss Han, 20, ran through Vanke No. 5 Garden in Bantian Subdistrict in her underwear with chains around her hands and feet screaming for help, according to eyewitness accounts. Police are now searching for a resident named Mr. Chen. He is being investigated for rape and illegally holding a person against their will.

In Chen’s home on the first floor of building D, police found a metal cage that Miss Han is thought to have been kept in. There was blood on the carpet when police searched the apartment.

It’s not like she didn’t scream for help while she was being held, either. Neighbours said Chen’s window had been left open for most of the past few days and they frequently heard a woman screaming, but they figured it was just a typical domestic dispute (which are totally fine, obviously).

Chen’s window which was open for much of the time.

Predicatably, Sina Weibo users are debating whether Chen was influenced by Japanese porn. But there are perverts everywhere, and it’s never a good idea for a women to go to a man’s home just after meeting on the internet.

***Update Shortly after 11 p.m. on March 11, Chen was arrested in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province. He is thought to be in his 40s and is a native of Shenyang in Liaoning Province.

Also, it turns out Miss Han, from Hunan Province, is just 17.
