I am from Beijing so maybe its not fair to judge southern chuanr but I thought this was crap. You would think with a westerner involved, and one who is obviously high profile, that the "BBQ" would be better. My buddy wanted to check the place out because it was Obama's brother's place so we went and it was a very underwhelming experience. The chuanr was bland and dry, the beer was warm and the staff was not attentive. I have been living in China for 6.5 years so I am used to the service industry in China, I also own a restaurant in Beijing, so I know the issues but the staff was really poor. I suggest skipping this place as I bet you will be dreadfully disappointed after your meal.

My BBQ experience in Mainland restaurants was not that good. But it was quite interesting to sit with the locals having beers and some "chuan er" in summer. Obama's brother's BBQ place is not bad, a wide selection from BBQ garlic eggplant to oyster, and the cold dishes, like "pai huang gua ( cucumber), "da ban cai (vegetable salad in Chinese way) tastes good! But the "chuan er " (skew) here is not that good, mainly because they are really small and the meet is a little bit dry. The two of us eat so much food at the cost of just 129, that includes two big bottles of cold beer!
