Light Club brings big sound to Shenzhen

Posted: 02/12/2014 10:30 am

Light Club is tucked away inside Culture Creative Park on the corner of Xinzhou and Fuqiang, just west of Yitian Metro Station, and is everything a good club should offer: flashing lights, blinding LED screens, multi-colored spotlights, over-the-top luxury, excellent service and well-choreographed shows. Of course, there is the usual full cocktail menu, with an extensive wine list as well, and all drinks are imported to insure a high level of quality. We didn’t find anything watered down here.

But music is the most important aspect of all, and they have spared no expense. The sound system is particularly intense, even for Shenzhen clubbing. It’s definitely a place you have to scream into your friend’s ear to be heard. Expat and resident-DJ Dante brings the energy late into the night on daily basis, with a myriad of musical genres – mainstream to underground – techno to electro house.

While in central Futian District, the locale is not quite walkable from the popular Coco Park bar-hopping scene. Though not the most conveniently-placed venue, it does dominate the immediate area, and as Shenzheners become more mobile these days there is no excuse not to take a look. The best way in is from the Fuqiang side, just follow the flashy signs; if you come in from the Xinzhou side you might get lost amidst the maze of buildings within the Culture Creative Park neighborhood.

The expat clientele is still growing, and for now Light Club is currently the kind of place good place for classy Chinese power players. Get there early before it’s the next big thing, and soon you’ll be able to tell all your friends you were there first.
