After stealing from the same convenience store two days in a row, a middle-aged women was confronted. After being questioned, she pulled a small, sharp metal object from her pocket and swallowed it.

The owners of the shop immediately called an ambulance. Staff at the hospital say she has done this before, according to Liaoning Satellite Television.

She has now been discharged and is in police custody.

The thefts took place at the Yuanfeng Convenience Store which is located on the campus of Guangzhou University. The woman stole 11 bottles of shampoo and 35 tubes of lipstick, amounting to more than 1000 yuan-worth of goods.
