Is merging the PRD into one giant city a good idea?

New bridge planned to link Shenzhen with Zhongshan

While all the attention has been paid on the bridge, currently under construction, that will connect Hong Kong with Macao and Zhuhai, Guangdong government reps have been busy planning a second crossing of the Mighty Pearl.

The Guangdong Government has thrown its weight behind a plan to link Shenzhen with Zhongshan via a bridge across the estuary. It still needs approval from the local city governments, but if it gets the nod, it will only take 30 minutes to travel from Zhongshan to Shenzhen and Guangzhou airports and only one hour to Hong Kong.
